About The Mary Johns Foundation
Our Mission
The mission of the Mary John’s Memorial Foundation is to bring an awareness to the undeniable and pervasive link between mental health and drug and alcohol dependency. Very rarely, if ever, does one condition exist without the other. Our goal and focus is to enhance mental health awareness, promote individual empowerment, and increase access to clinically based treatment programs and services for persons living with mental illness and drug and alcohol dependency.
We work to help people by bringing awareness to the epidemic itself and endeavor to mitigate the stigma of mental health and drug and alcohol dependency among our community members through outreach initiatives, direct service and policy advocacy.
Our History
Founded in 2024, The Mary Johns Memorial Foundation was established in the memory of three cousins, Mary Rose McGuire; John Wilson McGuire and John Anthony Favara, each of which either personally struggled with mental health or substance abuse challenges and/or valued the pursuit of awareness of these causes during their short lifetime.
